Lisa Miller is the daughter of Henry and Alma Miller. Alma loved Lisa, but thought nothing of giving her a piece of her mind when she felt Lisa was out of line. Alma and Henry were pleased when Lisa married Bob Hughes in 1960.
Bob and Lisa had a son, Tom. Lisa soon grew disenchated with married life and had an affair. Lisa's affair with Bruce Elliot broke up her marriage to Bob. Bruce eventually broke up with Lisa, who he felt was naive.
This is the point when Lisa realized she still loved Bob and begun trying to get him back. Lisa played a guilt trip on Bob's fiancee, Sylvia Hill, saying if it weren't for her she'd be able to get her family back together. It worked and Sylvia broke off the engagement.
Lisa's problems with the Hughes' continued so Lisa decided to move to Chicago. There she became engaged to John Eldridge, who was a wealthy attorney. When Lisa's father died, she returned to Oakdale. Nancy and Alma tried to get Bob and Lisa back together, but Lisa decided to marry John in secret. She sued Bob for custody of Tom, won and moved to Chicago. There she told Tom she married John. He was mad and called his dad to come and get him. The role of John Eldridge was played by Nicholas Coster, who also played Eduardo Grimaldi, Lisa's last husband.
The marriage to Eldridge didn't last long and Lisa received a hefty divorce settlement from him. She came back to Oakdale and dreamed of getting back together with Bob. Bob had moved on with Sandy McGuire. Lisa turned her attentions to Michael Shea. She was sleeping with him before and after his marriage to Claire Lowell. Lisa became pregnant and had their son, Chuck. Eventually Michael divorced Claire and married Lisa, but that marriage didn't last long.
Even with Nancy's help, Lisa wasn't able to get Bob back. Lisa eventually began an affair with Bob's brother, Don. Don had no plans on being tied down, which was fine with Lisa at that point. Eventually though they became engaged. Lisa was attracted to Dr. Wally Matthews. Lisa just wouldn't set a wedding date with Don, so Don wanted Wally investigated, feeling he stood in the way of his marriage to Lisa. Don got upset when Tom refused to investigate Wally and left town for California. Eventually Lisa realized Wally wasn't exciting enough for her and Wally left town too.
Around this time, Tom went to pick Chuck up from college. The weather was very bad and they got into a terrible car accident. Chuckie didn't survive. Lisa was very distraught.
Grant Colman attracted Lisa's attention next. He was an attorney who accepted a position at the Lowell firm, as long as it was renamed Lowell, Hughes & Colman. Grant was married to Joyce at one time. She came back to town to try and win Grant back. Despite her trying to get between them, Lisa and Grant married. Joyce admitted to Grant that after their separation she gave birth to their baby, a boy named Teddy. Lisa and Grant investigated and found out this was true. Joyce had given the baby up for adoption. Mary and Brian Ellison in Wyoming adopted him. Joyce fought to get Teddy back, but lost. Grant told the Ellison's he wouldn't fight for Teddy. The judge granted the Ellison's custody, due to the bond that Teddy had formed with them. Brian Ellison died in an accident, and Teddy and Mary moved to Oakdale. To try and get back at Grant and Bob, Joyce turned her attentions to Don Hughes, who'd returned from Los Angeles. Don and Joyce married. After some ups and downs, Grant and Lisa divorced. Lisa became engaged to Bennett Hadley, but they mutually agreed to break off the engagement.
Years later Lisa took another husband, Whit McColl. They married secretly in Paris. They married in 1982. On August 2, 1984 Whit was found murdered.
In 1986 Lisa married Earl Mitchell, who was Shannon's uncle. In 1988, on an assignment for the Argus in Egypt, Earl was killed. The mystery wasn't solved until 1989. Lisa was single once again.
Lisa's last husband was Eduardo Grimaldi. They married in 1995 but he was shot by Hans before they could go on a honeymoon. At the hospital Eduardo was doing okay, until Orlena Grimaldi increased the drug flow on his IV drip and opened up his wounds, killing him. Eduardo knew secrets about Orlena that she didn't want revealed. The Grimaldi's had been involved in many shady business dealings. In fact, Eduardo was a cold-blooded killer, trying to cover his tracks so no one would find out what he was up to. To this day Lisa has no idea what kind of man Eduardo really was, because he never showed her that side of him nor were the incidents he was involved in investigated. Lisa blamed John Dixon for Eduardo's death, sued him, and won. To get back at Lisa, John claimed he was a changed man and wooed her. They became engaged. He humiliated Lisa at their engagement party, saying it was all a sham.
