Nia Long originated the role of Kat Speakes on Guiding Light in 1991 and played the role until 1994.
Nia was born on October 30, 1970 in Brooklyn, New York. She is 5'2" and has brown eyes. After her parent's divorce she lived in Iowa for a short time and then moved to Los Angeles. Nia has gone on to have a very successful film career since leaving GL. She has appeared in Boyz in the Hood, Made in America, Love Jones, and Soul Food, among other films.
