Mary Stuart joined the cast of Guiding Light in the role of Meta Bauer in November 1996. Mary Stuart is well known to daytime fans as Jo on Search for Tomorrow. She played that role the entire time the show aired, from 1951 to 1986.

Mary began her career at age 12 singing for local bands. In high school she began working with the USO. She began singing withh the Hotel Roosevelt Grill which led to a screen test and a contract with MGM. She appeared in many films including The Girl from Jones Beach, Colt 45, and The Adventures of Don Juan.

Mary has written her autobiography titled Both of Me. She recorded an album of children's songs called Joanne Sings and a album of original music titled Mary Stuart. Mary is chaiperson of the New York chapter of BOOK PALS. She was born in Miami, GL and raised in Tulsa, OK. She was born on July 4, 1929.
