Bert used to be quite a nag and always wanted to be more than the wife of a clerk, so Bill turned to other women and drinking. He went away on business quite often and during one of those trips the plane he was supposed to be on crashed. All occupants were killed, so everyone assumed he died. Instead, he wasn't on the plane. He took off and lived with his lover, Simone Kincaide. As Bill Morey he had a daughter with Simone, named Hillary. Years later he was found to be alive. He died in 1983, killed by Eli Sims. He was pushed out a window. Bill Bauer was a character from GL's radio and television show.
