Cynthia Watros (Annie, GL) has filmed a pilot for FOX, so this means that Rauch is still planning on recasting the role of Annie and has plans for the character to return to the show! Logan also stated during the chat that they are still searching for the new Bill Lewis and that there are no plans for a Cassie baby at this point.

June 5, 1998 - Although not yet official, word is that GL is going to be moving its studios to the SoHo area in New York City. New studios are supposed to be built. June 6, 1998 - Soap Opera News reports that Beverlee McKinsey (ex-Alexandra) is ill. No details were given except that she was hospitalized in Santa Barbara, CA last month and a representative for the actress said she is doing very well now. It's unknown if she's still in the hospital.

In saying how he got on the list, EW writes "In the blink of an audition, the former Rent-ster became Angela Bassett's much-buzzed-about costar in the adaptation of Terry McMillan's How Stella Got Her Groove Back, due in August." They did leave out current GL-star, since he left the role of Sugar for the film. But hey, us soap-sters get no respect. Kudos Taye, we hardly knew ya.

It's to be an umbrella story that will begin at the end of summer. No word on what characters will be involved, but the story is to run into 1999. For those who were wondering about Holly's story, I'm told her story was always to be a slow-moving one. September 14, 1998 - Here are a couple of question and answers from a recent Michael Zaslow (ex-Roger) chat held on Yahoo:

annieRob: If TPTB at GL were to ever get smart . . . would you reprise ''Roger'' and have Roger face his strongest foe? It would be an amazing story!
Michael: OLTL beat them to the punch, and P&G could not be smart in that respect, as they have demonstrated.

annieRob: What about the Roger videotape -- any chance P&G will get classy, give ZazAngels the rights and profits, and use it as a fundraiser?
Michael: We asked and were turned down not once but twice.

October 2, 1998 - Here's an interesting tidbit about the Spaulding family library - many of the books are in Swedish. That could be a hint if the next nursery rhyme note is in Swedish!

December 2, 1998 - Vote online for the second annual Doofus Awards by going to http://www.soapcity.com/. The awards are to honor those soap opera characters who have behaved in ways one cannot comprehend — stupid, ignorant, or just a real dud. Some of the nominees are from GL. At the very end you can submit your write-in votes, as some characters from GL were left out of certain categories they should definitely be in. Voting ends on Wednesday, December 9, 1998. Winners will be announced on Friday, December 11.

December 4, 1998 - According to TV Guide Online, NBC "will almost definitely go with a four-soup line up when Passions premieres." Passions is the new NBC soap by James Reilly, set to premiere on July 5, 1999. Many have wondered if NBC would cancel Sunset Beach or Another World to make room for Passions on their daytime schedule. For now, word is, that Another World is safe. I mention this because Another World is produced by Procter & Gamble, who also produce Guiding Light. Happenings on P&G's other shows (they also produce As The World Turns) sometimes effect GL.

December 13, 1998 - Soap Opera Weekly named Michelle's blindness as the Worst Storyline of 1998 in their December 22, 1998 issue (they also stated Rebecca Budig and Paolo Benedeti didn't have chemistry!). Rick not being Kevin's father was named as one of 1998's most shocking storyline twists. Joie Lenz (Michelle, ex-teen Cleva) was named as a "find of the year" and "best recycling of an actress."

Phillip and Harley was named the most charming couple. Beth Chamberlin (Beth) was voted one of two "best breakout performances." Blake was voted "worst wife." Ben was voted "most complex new character." Hunt Block (Ben) was named one of the sexiest newcomers. Selena was named "most intriguing new character." Beth/Phillip/Harley was named one of the best triangles. Matt and Vanessa were chosen as the most underused couple. Reva was chosen for "worst overuse of a beloved character." Hart and Josh were named in their "dumb, dumber, dumbest, and beyond dumb" category. They say the worst special effects makeup was for Clone Reva as an old woman. The clone story was named most controversial storyline.

Best pinch-hitting went to Cynthia Watros (ex-Annie) for filling in as Vicky on Another World. SOW states: Watros replaced Jsensen Buchanan for a few weeks and slipped so seamlessly into the role we were asking, "Jensen who?" Though we're big Buchanan fans, in the brief time she was there Watros made the role her own, adding interesting facets to the character. Besides, it's always fun to see an actor strongly identified with another character do a role so strongly identified with another actor."

Lauren Mayhew (Marah) and Brittany Snow (Susan) said they have known each other for ten years. Brittany said her mom got her hooked on Guiding Light this past summer. Lauren said her favorite book is True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle. Both Lauren and Brittany like Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul.

Tammy Blanchard (Drew) says Drew is in no way sleazy. She stated "She is in love, young and chasing someone she wants. If you think that's sleazy, then you must have forgotten the essence of young love." Patti D'Arbanville (Selena) agreed. Regarding her son with Don Johnson, Patti said "His name is Jesse. he's 16, just got his license, and he doesn't know anyone named Drew." Patti revealed she is now on contract.
